New Moon Ritual; Setting Intentions

hm-12-17blog

The New Moon is a wonderful time to set intentions and allow the Universal Divine to aid and assist you in what you’re trying to bring to fruition. You don’t have to do much to set powerful intentions. Just as with a Full Moon ritual, your New Moon ritual can be as vague or as in-depth as you’d like. All that really matter is that you set your intentions for the New Moon cycle.

Preparing Your Space

It is best to prepare the space you wish to do your New Moon ritual in by cleansing it of any stagnant energy. You can easily do this by smudging your space. Smudging is the technique of burning sage while you state your intention of clearing any negative energy from your space. You may also choose to light candles as well as diffuse some essential oils.

Chanting

Chanting can draw in some serious energy! You can chant ancient sounds or the names of the elements-Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Space(spirit). Chanting also helps to ground you which can be helpful when working with energy.

Meditation

Meditation helps quiet the chatter in your head and also helps you focus and connect on a deeper level. It can be as simple or in-depth that you need it to be. A simple way to meditate is to sit or lay in a comfortable position. Close your eyes. Take a slow, deep breath to the count of 4. Hold that breath to the count of 4. Then, slowly exhale to the count of 4. Do this as many times as you need until you feel calm and relaxed.

Journaling

Write down all that you wish to manifest into your life. This can include behaviors, emotions, money, someone special, abundance, new car, etc. It is good to get into the habit of journaling because it allows you to document changes in your life. When you do this it is easier to see how things can be interconnected. If you do not wish to journal your intentions you can simply write them down on a piece of paper, fold it up, and carry it around in your purse or wallet.

Full Moon Release Ritual and Ideas

hqdefault

It takes exactly 28 days to complete a full moon cycle; New Moon to Full Moon.  The New Moon is a time to set intentions while the Full Moon is a time to release all that no longer serves in your best interest. The moon is responsible for the change in tides. Being that our bodies are made up of approximately 70% water, it makes sense that we can physically be affected by the cycles of the moon.  Living your life by the moon cycles is extremely beneficial as it allows you time to reflect on what it is you desire to bring into your life as well as reflect on releasing all the no longer benefits you. Moon rituals are non-denominational and can be used by anyone, anywhere on this Earth for healing.

Creating moon rituals has expanded my consciousness tenfold. It gives me time twice a month to reflect on all I wish to bring into my life as well as all that I wish to release from my life. It helps me be mindful of my goals and the direction I want my life to take.

A moon ritual can be as short, long, creative, silly, serious, personal, or vague as you’d like it to be. This is a time to tap into your own personal power in whatever way feels natural to you. You can choose as many ideas as you would like or simply create your own.

Personally, my Full Moon ritual goes a little something like this…

  • Ritual cleansing bath with essential oils and/or healing crystals
  • Energy clearing of my Sacred Space (altar); saging
  • Meditation
  • Oracle card pull or full spread layout
  • Journaling
  • Invocation
  • Intention
  • Closing prayer of Gratitude

Here are some pictures from a past ritual for visualization:

There really is no wrong way to do this. Do whatever you feel drawn to do and know that it is the right way. Trust your intuition. To help you get started, here are some ideas you can incorporate into your own Full Moon ritual. You can use as many or as little as you’d like!

Preparing Your Space

It is best to prepare the space you wish to do your Full Moon ritual in by cleansing it of any stagnant energy. You can easily do this by smudging your space. Smudging is the technique of burning sage while you state your intention of clearing any negative energy from your space. You may also choose to light candles as well as diffuse some essential oils. Some of my favorite essential oils to use during the Full Moon are bergamot, orange, rose, rosewood, sandalwood, tea tree, and tangerine. However, any oils you choose will work just fine. You may also wish to work with the energy of healing crystals. Usually the crystals I like to work with are ones that aid in spiritual/psychic connection and healing past emotions such as rhodonite, quartz crystal, and amethyst. You may use any of your choice.

Journaling

This is a good time to reflect on all that has happened the last two weeks while the moon has been waning. Write down all that you wish to release. This can include behaviors, emotions, addictions, past hurt, etc. Simply write down all that you wish to release because it no longer serves you. It is good to get into the habit of journaling because it allows you to document changes in your life. When you do this it is easier to see how things can be interconnected.

Tarot/Oracle Card Pull

Doing a card pull can help bring into awareness what you need to release at this given time in your journey. It helps bring insight into whatever topic you are inquiring about. Trust your intuition with these messages and know that they have come to you in your best interest. There are many different decks to choose from online. There are also a lot of different card layouts online if you need.

Crystal Cleansing and Charging

The Full Moon is a wonderful time for cleansing and charging your crystals! You can do this simultaneously by setting them out overnight so that they absorb the intense energy from the moon. Simply set them outside overnight and then bring them inside in the morning. They will be cleansed of all negative energy and charged to aid you in healing and other energy work; such as manifestations. Now that’s a convenient duo!

Moon Charged Water

You can harness the powerful energy of the Full Moon by making Moon Water. This is extremely easy to do and has many uses. Place a glass container filled with purified water, preferably with a lid like a mason jar, outside under the Full Moon overnight. From this batch of Moon Water you can take a dropper full every day for energy support or add it to countless items and practices. You may use it wherever you feel guided to.

Closing Prayer/Give Thanks

It is important to give thanks to God/Spirit/Source/Universe. Showing gratitude raises your vibrational frequency and helps attract more goodness into your life. Here is a sample prayer, but you can make it your own. Do and/or say what you feel guided to do.                       dear-universe-by-zero-dean

There is no wrong way to hold your own Full Moon ritual. Do what you feel drawn to do. If you’re anything like me each one will vary and you will keep adjusting it based on your individual needs at the time. Trust your instinct and have faith in the Universe. All is well in your world. Here are some other Full Moon rituals you may find helpful.                                                      98d84afddef5518c8e766e4160a8cc00 fullmoonblessing

Crown Chakra- Sahasrara

opening-the-crown-chakra

The seventh chakra is the crown chakra and it is located at the top of the head and connects us to our higher consciousness; our higher selves. It is associated with the color purple. When our crown chakra is balanced we live from a place of Divine knowing from Source. We feel competent in our path and are mindful each and every day. When this chakra is out of balance we feel disconnect from Source; alienated. We may get disoriented easily and forget generally mundane details. Depression is a common symptom of crown chakra imbalance.

crown-chakra-healing

Here are some different methods for third eye chakra balancing and healing. You may repeat as often as you feel necessary.

Affirmations– “I Understand” affirmations such as, “I understand the impermanent truth of reality”, “I accept and honor the Spirit that resides in myself as well as all living things”, “I am complete ”. Repeat as often as necessary. Preferably with the eyes shut.

Healing Crystals– Crystals that aid in opening your Spiritual awareness are amethyst, clear quartz, selenite, obsidian, and sugilite. Hold them in your hands, keep them in your pockets, or wear them as jewelry.

Aromatherapy– Some essential oils to open your Spiritual awareness and allow healing are lotus, jasmine, sandalwood, frankincense, and lavender.

Nutrition Therapy– The crown chakra is more of a spiritual energy center than a physical one. Therefore, we nourish this center not with food but with intentions on raising our individual vibration. Some common ways to honor this are through detox, prayer,  meditation, and some forms of fasting. You may choose any to add to your practice.

Sound Therapy- Chanting the bij mantra, AUM(om), silence, and a frequency of 480HZ, and the key of B. You can easily find these on the internet for instant access.

Visualizations– In a quiet place sit in lotus pose, or criss-cross-applesauce, and take 5 deep cleansing breaths. Visualize a lotus flower opening at the top of your head. Feel it open and expand; joining with the energy of the universe. Sit there and feel the energetic exchange between you and Source. Let your consciousness open to the Universe. Know you  are loved and protected.

Yoga- Tree, fish, handstand, lotus, and savasana corpse pose are all poses that help open your crown chakra and allow energy to flow freely throughout your entire being.

Reflexology– On the hands, stimulate the tips of your first three fingers. On the feet, massage the tips of your big toes in a clockwise motion.

You are one with the Universe. You are connected to Divine Source. Allow yourself to open up to the energetic blessings of the Universe. You are loved. You are whole. You are COMPLETE. Namaste ❤

Third Eye Chakra- Ajna

reasons3rdeye

The sixth chakra is the third eye chakra. It is located on your forehead between your physical eyes. It connects with our intuition, imagination, creativity, and psychic abilities. It is associated with the color indigo and the element of Light. When this chakra is balanced we feel inspired, have clarity, and trust our inner guidance. When this energy circle is out of balance we can feel like we have “brain fog”, lack imagination, feel disconnected from Source, and may even experience physical eye/forehead pain such as headaches and migraines.

Aromatherapy– To balance this chakra using aromatherapy, simply roll the oil blend over your third eye and pulse points. Preferred essential oils for this chakra center are lavender, rosemary, clary sage, frankincense, chamomile and pathcouli.

Nutrition Therapy– Focus on foods that are bluish-purple in color such as blackberries, figs, grapes, prunes, raisins, eggplant, purple kale and cabbage, and other purple varieties of vegetables.

Sound Therapy- Chanting the bij mantra, Ksham, sounds of bells and chimes, and a frequency of 426.7Hz, and the key of A. You can easily find these on the internet for instant access.

Color/Art Therapy–  Since the color associated with the third eye chakra is indigo painting, coloring, drawing, etc with colors near indigo can help to balance this chakra center.

Yoga- Poses that use a forward bend are preferred; such as downward dog and child’s pose.

Reflexology– On the hands, massage the middle sections of your first three fingers and the end section of your pinkies. On the feet, massage the outer pad of your big toes in a clockwise motion.

screen-shot-2013-09-17-at-8-26-19-pm

The fifth chakra is the throat chakra and it is located in your throat region. It connects to our self-expression, speech, and overall communication. It is associated with the color blue and the element Space. When this chakra is balanced we can easily express our truths without fear of how others will perceive it. When the throat chakra is imbalanced we can feel like we cannot speak our minds or express ourselves the way we need to. An imbalance of the throat chakra may also manifest as a sore/tight throat and/or cough.

Here are some different methods for throat chakra balancing and healing. You may repeat as often as you feel necessary.

Affirmations– “I Speak” affirmations such as, “I speak clearly”, “I speak my complete truth”, “I communicate openly and lovingly ”. Repeat as often as necessary. Preferably with the eyes shut.

Healing Crystals– Use crystals that are blue in color such as blue lace agate, lapis lazuli, sapphire, sodalite, turquoise, aquamarine, and blue topaz. Hold them in your hands, keep them in your pockets, or wear them as jewelry.

Aromatherapy– Since the throat chakra is associated with ether/space, using aromatherapy oils helps to raise the vibrational frequency for healing. To balance this chakra using aromatherapy, simply roll the oil blend over your throat and pulse points. Preferred essential oils for this chakra center are cedarwood, sage, nag champa, rosemary, and lime.

Nutrition Therapy– Focus on foods that are bluish in color such as blueberries, blue grapes, currents, and blackberries. Dragon fruit, wheatgrass, kelp, mushrooms, and barley are also wonderful foods to help balance your throat chakra.

Sound Therapy- Chanting the bij mantra, HAM, has a sensual balancing effect as well as the keynote of G, the sound of birds and crickets, and a frequency of 384Hz. You can easily find these on the internet for instant access.

Visualizations– In a quiet place sit in lotus pose, or criss-cross-applesauce, and take 5 deep cleansing breaths. Then visualize a favorite food of yours. Think of how it tastes. Now visualize yourself eating this food. With every inhale open your mouth and breathe in a radiant blue light. Imagine this light coating the inside of your throat. With every exhale breathe out white light and visualize any blockages or stuck energy leaving your body. Do this as many times as needed until you feel that you can speak openly without any fear or hesitations.

Color/Art Therapy–  Since the color associated with the throat chakra is blue, painting, drawing, coloring etc with the color blue can greatly connect you to your throat chakra and allow normal balance within.

Yoga- Bridge, fish, plow and supported shoulder stand are all excellent poses to open up and clear your throat chakra.

Reflexology– On the hands, massage where your fingers meet your palm. On your feet, massage directly under your big toes.

Heart Chakra- Anahata

heartchakradkr-2202

The heart chakra is the fourth chakra and is located in our heart region. It connects with our emotions, feelings, sincerity, forgiveness, and love. It is associated with the color green and the element Air. When our heart chakra is balanced we feel joy, gratitude, love, and compassion. When this energy center is out of balance we feel lonely, abandoned, angry, and jealous. We can also go overboard and become emotionally clingy looking for self-assurance.

heart-chakra-1-2

Here are some different methods for heart chakra balancing and healing. You may repeat as often as you feel necessary.

Affirmations– “I Love” affirmations such as, “I am grateful”, “I am compassionate”, “I openly give and receive love ”. Repeat as often as necessary. Preferably with the eyes shut.

Healing Crystals– Use crystals that are green in color such as aventurine, malachite, jade, emerald, green tourmaline, and chrysoprase. Although it is not green in color, rose quartz is exceptionally helpful in balancing the heart chakra. Hold them in your hands, keep them in your pockets, or wear them as jewelry.

Aromatherapy– Since the heart chakra is associated with air, burning incense or using an aromatherapy diffuser is the most effective way to harness the benefits of aromatherapy. Floral, aromatic essential oils such as ylang-ylang, jasmine, rosewood, vetiver, pine, and rose have strong heart-opening properties.

Nutrition Therapy– Focus on foods that are green in color such as spinach, kale, green beans, broccoli, dark green lettuce, cabbage, zucchini, green peppers, celery, kiwi, apples, pears, and avocado. Green foods are scientifically shown to decrease the risk of heart disease. Notice the correlation? 😉

Sound Therapy- Chanting the bij mantra, YAM, has a sensual balancing effect as well as the keynote of F, the sound of wind/air blowing, and a frequency of 341.3 Hz. You can easily find these on the internet for instant access.

Visualizations– In a quiet place sit in lotus pose, or criss-cross-applesauce, and take 5 deep cleansing breaths. Then visualize a green rosebud in the center of your chest. With every inhalation envision the petals of the rose slowly starting to bloom. See a new petal unfold with every breath exchange. Do this for a few breath cycles. Now visualize releasing all of the negative energy that was stored inside this rose bud. Give the energy back to the Universe so that it may be transmuted into loving, healing energy. Take your time with this process and really visualize negative energy leaving your body so that your inner-rose may blossom to its full potential.

Color/Art Therapy–  Since the color associated with the heart chakra is green, painting, drawing, coloring etc with the color green can greatly connect you to your heart chakra and allow normal balance within.

Yoga- Cat, Camel, Forward-bend, and cobra are excellent heart-opening poses to revitalize your heart center and help you operate out of a place of love.

Reflexology– On the hands, massage from the lowest thumb joint across the entire palm. On your left foot, massage the muscle mass that sits directly below the second and fourth toes.

i-an-an-infinite-being

When we operate from a place of love and acceptance our whole world opens up to us and responds accordingly. Like attracts like. Go through your days with love in your heart. If you feel off-balance remember you can always come back to these healing modalities. Namaste ❤

Solar Plexus Chakra-Manipura

yellow-chakra

The solar plexus is the third chakra and is located in the solar plexus region between the ribs and navel. The chakra connects to our ego, personal power, will, and autonomy. It is associated with the color yellow and the element Fire. When our solar plexus is balanced we feel confident, self-assured, harmonious, and protected. When this energy center is off-balance we confused, depressed, and riddled with self-doubt.

Aromatherapy– Since the solar plexus chakra is associated with fire, burning incense or candles is a powerful way to utilize aromatherapy for healing. Preferred scents are lemon, lemongrass, lime, fennel, corriander, juniper, frankincense, and myrrh.

Nutrition Therapy– Focus on foods that are yellow in color such as bananas, peppers, corn, pineapple, squash, beans, quinoa, turmeric, and ginger.

Sound Therapy- Chanting the bij mantra, RAM, has a sensual balancing effect as well as the keynote of E, the sound of a roaring fire, and a frequency of 320 Hz. You can easily find these on the internet for instant access.

Visualizations– In a quiet place sit in lotus pose, or criss-cross-applesauce, and take 5 deep cleansing breaths. Then visualize a sphere of roaring fire radiating from your solar plexus. Feel the warm, healing heat. Take a deep breath and visualize propelling your fire sphere towards a bright, warm sun. Continue breathing and moving the sphere towards the sun. Once the fire sphere and sun have morphed together to create one giant ball of bright energy, feel the radiating rays warm you throughout your entire body. Sit in this exchange of energy until you feel warmed thoroughly.

Color/Art Therapy–  Since the color associated with the solar plexus chakra is yellow, painting, drawing, coloring etc with the color yellow can greatly connect you to your solar plexus and allow normal balance within.

Yoga- Bridge, boat, bow, and reverse spinal twist are all wonderful poses to ignite your solar plexus.

Reflexology– Massage across the base of the palm of the hand and directly under the pads of the feet where the two reflex muscles merge. Massage both feet simultaneously.
